Top Five: SWTOR Guides

Star Wars the Old Republic has been out for long enough for a whole crop of SWTOR guides to come out of the wood works. Each proclaims greatness, promises riches and assures us of its credibility and integrity. But what five really do deserve our attention? Which five SWTOR guides really are worth taking time away from our lightsabers and blasters to study under wiser ones? What follows is our take on the very best guides to date! Enjoy!

Best Overall Guide:

 SWTOR Saviour

Full Review: SWTOR Saviour Review

SWTOR Saviour is our  best rated SWTOR guide overall. The difference between this SWTOR Saviour and the rest of the guides on this list is substantial. It is the most popular SWTOR guide on the market and has the best videos. While they certainly weren’t made by Steven Spielberg, these video guides have a high end amateurish feel. I don’t mean this as a criticism.

Because the SWTOR guide market is exclusively produced by independents, you have to expect a lot of the content to be designed by amateurs. But this doesn’t impede the quality of the product and actually often results in superior products because it is real gamers offering their insight to other gamers. SWTOR Saviour’s videos were clearly not made by a professional videographer, but they are informative, high resolution and have a quality voice over. You honestly can’t expect more than that.

But what sets this guide apart is that its videos display great info, a responsive development team and nearly constant updates. Plus, it comes with a VIP forum that is almost a better value than its volumes of videos. There are some legitimately elite players on those boards doling out advice to wannabe Jedi.  Best of all, this SWTOR guide is really competitively priced for what it has to offer!

Pound for pound, it is a significantly superior guide to the others on this list. We highly recommend this SWTOR guide and encourage you to check it out.

Best Membership Site:

SWTOR Strife Guide

Our Rating:

User Rating:

SWTOR Strife Guide is definitely a great value on the SWTOR guide market. It is very reasonably priced and offers a whole lot of content. SWTOR Strife Guide is primarily a video guide, detailing everything from leveling to credits to builds to PvP. The videos are professionally done and the voice over is top notch. It’s constantly updated on an almost daily basis and the majority of this content is actually useful.

The Strife guide is the only recurring membership SWTOR guide that we would recommend. It is still regularly updated with quality videos and costs only 10 dollars a month. Is it worth it for the long term? Probably not. But for two or three months, I can definitely see the value in the Strife guide. It does have a collection of a bit over 200 hundred videos at this point which account for about 1,000 hours of gameplay footage. Pound for pound, that’s more videos than any other guide has to offer.

Best Credit Guide:

Wealthy Hutts

Full Review: Wealthy Hutts Review

Wealthy Hutts weighs in as the best credits SWTOR guide on our list. Why’s that? Because it’ll make you rich! Wealthy Hutts is unique on this list in that it is a niche guide, focusing on one thing and one thing only. In this case, Wealthy Hutts focuses on making you a shit ton of credits.

It is by far the most popular SWTOR guide for credits and for good reason. The tips and advice in this guide are freaking effective! It doesn’t quite live up to its promises, but you know what? That’s okay. It still will leave you richer than before you bought the guide.

Best Leveling Guide:

Star Wars the Old Republic Base

Our Rating:

User Rating:

SWTORBASE claims to offer the fastest leveling path of any SWTOR guide. And, of all the SWTOR guides I’ve taken a look at, I’ve got to say I agree. It promises level 50 in 6 days and it delivered. I took a Republic trooper and followed this guide exactly. I determined I would only use the guide for 6 days and if I didn’t reach the level cap than I would consider it a bust. I put in about six and a half hours each day, quite a bit more than I usually played but I wanted to be fair to the guide.

In about 40 hours of play time, I was sitting pretty at level 50. Is it the best guide? No. Is it the prettiest? No. Does it deliver on its promise? Pretty much. Granted, the average gamer doesn’t play six and a half hours every day so they shouldn’t expect level 50 in six days. But forty hours of play time to the level cap is damned impressive. It’s also constantly being updated to match the near constant updates introduced by the developers. If a new zone comes in that will increase leveling speed, you can bet you’ll see this SWTOR guide come out with an update to match. Plenty of SWTOR guides promise the fastest leveling path, in my experience, only SWTORBASE delivers on that promise.
